Armin Deffur
Team leader and medical doctor
As team leader Armin is responsible for the management of the team and
is also the team's medical doctor. He is responsible for the base and
all safety aspects. In addition he operates the GPS/AWI tracking
station and the food store levels.

Morné Smit
Electronic engineer
Morné is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the
communication systems at the base. This includes the satellite link as
well as the HF and VHF radio networks. In addition, he is responsible
for maintaining electronic equipment at the base and the web page.

Paul van Warmelo
Electrical engineer
Paul is responsible for the maintenance and operation of all the
electrical systems inside and outside the base. This includes the
generation and reticulation of electricity as well as providing back-up
power and "clean" power for the scientific programs, communication
systems and hospital.

Riaan du Preez
Mechanical engineer
Riaan is responsible for the maintenance and operation of all the
mechanical systems inside and outside the base (this includes the
ventilation, heating & cooling, fresh water, sewerage,
refrigeration, fuel supply and power generation systems) as well as the
maintenance and operation of the vehicle fleet.

David Volschenk
Deputy team leader and diesel mechanic
David's main responsibilities are to assist the mechanical engineer in
the maintenance and operation of all the mechanical systems inside and
outside the base as well as the vehicle fleet. He is also the deputy
team leader.

Michael Rabotho
Diesel mechanic
Michael's main responsibilities are assisting the mechanical engineer
in the maintenance and operation of all the mechanical systems inside
and outside the base as well as the vehicle fleet. |
Mike Johannes
Meteorologist
Mike is mainly responsible for a number of different daily weather
readings. He also maintains all the weather measurement eqiupment.

Jaco Minnie
Scientist
Jaco's main responsibilities are the maintenance and operation of the
AMIGO and ANOKS programs for the University of Potchefstroom.

Jan Wiid
Scientist
Jan's main responsibility is the maintenance and operation of the SHARE
HF Radar program. He also maintains and operates the Council for
Geoscience/AWI seismograph. |

Tankiso Modise
Scientist
Tankiso is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the AMIGO
program for the University of Natal at Durban as well as the UND Aurora
program. In addition, he maintained and operated the OZONE monitoring
program.
