Oryx

Depending on its fuel load an Oryx can lift up to one and a half tonnes with ease. Most of the cagro are packed in orange containers measuring roughly 1.5x1.2x2m and is moved from the ship to shore with the help of the Oryx.

Cargo train

Heavy cargo packed on sledges is taken to SANAE IV with Cagro trains. A Challenger 65 C or 70 C is used towing up to three sledges. Challengers travel on GPS safe routes and in pairs to assist each other in case of mechanical trouble.

Heavy lifts

Cargo in excess of two tonnes is lifted from the ship with the heavy lift crane to the ice ramp. This includes the Challengers, dozers and food reefers.
